Katie and Casey were married in the beautiful Barnbougle Castle. They both flew, with all of their favorite loved ones, flew over from america to getting married in the beautiful seaside scottish castle, Barnbougle Castle. Barnbougle castle is located just outside of Edinburgh, and katie had previously been before and really felt a strong bond to scotland and found barnbougle to be the perfect venue to start their next chapter together.
I spent the morning with Katie and her sweet bridesmaids at the Glasshouse Hotel in the heart of Edinburgh, where they had breakfast, a first look with her dad and then hair and makeup done by AMM. The lovely doorman at The Glasshouse held an umbrella over Katie as she walked to her hired car to make sure she wasn’t soaked by the rain for her first look. We arrive to the Edinburgh City Chambers courtyard, where Casey was waiting for Katie to walk up to him. They embraced and we strolled around the royal mile and around the courtyard behind St. Giles cathedral to get a few bridal portraits in the old town area of Edinburgh before we took a taxi about 15 minutes outside of the city center, until we reached the countryside, where Barnbougle awaited us.
When we pulled up to Barnbougle Castle, a scottish man in a kilt greeted the bride and groom with memorable scottish tunes on the bagpipe. The couple were able to enjoy the entire castle to themselves for a bit while we strolled around for photos with the firth of forth waterfront view and edinburgh in the distance. After some moments taking in the entire castle alone with each other, they had their families come and join them 30 minutes before they told the guests to arrive for them to take family portraits before their ceremony.
The Bagpiper was at the entrance of Barnbougle Castle to greet all of their guests as they arrived in two red double decker buses. Once the guests were seated the beautiful ceremony started in the downstairs library with windows that overlooked the water. They had their friend officiate the wedding ceremony and of course they wantd to do the traditional scottish drinking of the quaich. overall, their wedding ceremony at Barnbougle Castle was surrounded by scottish Heritage.
After the ceremony, all of the guests went to the back of Barnbougle and had a cocktail hour on the Terrace. There were oysters (wild Thyme does such an amazing job of catering!), an open bar and lots of hugs and selfies taken. I love when the couple take portraits beforehand, so they were freely able to just enjoy the entire cocktail hour with their friends and family after the wedding ceremony.
They were able to pop upstairs for a few minutes to have a drink in private, refresh and to see the dining hall before the guests were invited upstairs to the grand ballroom. The couple had a grand entrance to the dining hall, with of course the scottish bagpiper once again leading the way with his music from the balcony. The rest of the evening was filled with dancing with their live band, WooHoo Band, a very entertaining ceilidh dance, lots of laughter and surprise fireworks from the back of barnbougle castle shooting over the water for all of their guests to remember such a magical wedding day in scotland.
“Barnbougle Castle is a stunning and historic wedding venue just outside of Edinburgh, Scotland with ocean front views.”
Rosebery House Wedding | Rosebery Steading Wedding | Rosebery Venues | Joanne + John | Scarlett and Bell Luxury Wedding Planner | Rosebery Venues in Edinburgh, Scotland | Edinburgh Wedding Photographer
Joanne and John, who flew all of the way over to scotland from lA, were married at The Rosebery House just outside of Edinburgh, SCotland. The Rosebery House is one of the loveliest scottish country home wedding venues that is only a short half hour from the city center of Edinburgh. not only does Rosebery House have a stunning garden and intimate chapel on the property, but just across the road is the rosebery steading, which is a larger venue for weddings with more guests. Rosebery Steading has a stunning courtyard, lodging for up to 28 guests as well as two large barn spaces for dancing, a live band or a formal dinner setting.
Joanne and john really utilized the entire rosebery venue estate. They had a welcome BBQ on the night before their wedding day in the backyard of the Rosebery house. They had it catered and winton brewery had a bar truck for all of their guests. The back of the Rosebery House had a lovely sunroom that was large enough to seat their families and friends at one long table, And they had a piano and guitar duiet, from members of Killer City Sound, playing live music during the welcome dinner.
JOanne, john and their closest friends and family spent the night between the rooms at both the rosebery house and rosebery steading, so they could all wake up and have breakfast together at the country house. Joanne had the lovely suzanne Christie do her hair and makeup in a suite overlooking the Rosebery garden and chapel entrance. there is a courtyard in the center of rosebery house where john was waiting for her to meet him for their first look just minutes before the ceremony in the chapel. Joanne then met her dad for a first look in the front of the rosebery house where he then walked her through the garden all of the way to the front of the chapel, passing by a bagpiper who was playing them in with classic scottish tunes.
After the chapel ceremony, my husband and I, along with the filmmaker, Toby from Handcraft pictures, walked around the roserbery house grounds for their wedding portraits before a vintage car drove them across the street to meet thier guests in the courtyard of rosebery steading for their outdoor cocktail hour. A saxophonist was playing live while apps and cocktails from wilde thyme were floating around. everyone eventually was led into one of the converted barn dining halls at rosebery steading for a seated multiple course dinner, where wild flower workshop had put together beautiful floral installations and table centerpieces from local foraging in the area and from all around the estate.
After dinner, espresso martinis and old fashions were handed out to everyone in the rosebery steading courtyard on their way into the other barn hall for a night of dancing to the live music of Killer City Sound. Two of the bandmates had a fun time trying to teach the americans how to do the ceilidh dances, which is always very entertaining to watch, in the most fun way possible. joanne and john went back to the rosebery house garden at sunset for a few more portraits and a slow dance as the sun went down in Scotland. at the end of the night, these two were wed in the loveliest country house scottish estate and spent the night dancing away and spending time with their loved ones.
“Rosebery House is a beautiful countryside estate wedding venue located just outside of Edinburgh. The rosebery steading was perfect for intimate dinner and late night dance party.”
After the friday night bbq at rosebery house, joanne and john spent the night at the house and started their wedding morning getting ready there on a beautiful, sunny scottish day.
